The Michigan Gold Mine is near West Ishpeming, Michigan. Historically the site has been part of the Marquette Iron Mining District. The Michigan Gold Mine is a surface and underground mining operation. Initial production took place in 1887. The ore mined is composed of gold with waste material consisting primarily of tourmaline and quartz.
